Practice Areas

The full range of Texas family law.

Every matter is different. These are the areas we handle — together or separately, however your situation needs.

01

Divorce

Uncontested, contested, high-conflict, high-asset, and gray-divorce matters under the Texas Family Code. We'll walk you through what to expect in Collin County district courts before any filings are made.

Learn more
02

Child Custody & Visitation

Conservatorship and possession orders, parenting plans, relocation disputes, and standard-versus-expanded possession schedules. The children's best interest is the standard the court applies, and the standard we work to.

Learn more
03

Child Support

Initial orders, calculations under Texas guidelines, deviations, retroactive support, and enforcement when payments stop coming.

Learn more
04

Property & Asset Division

Texas is a community-property state, but the lines are rarely simple. Business interests, retirement accounts, real estate, and separate-property tracing — we handle them with the financial experts a case may require.

Learn more
05

Spousal Maintenance

Texas sets a high bar for spousal maintenance. We'll tell you whether your facts likely qualify under Chapter 8 — before you spend money chasing an order that isn't there.

Learn more
06

Modification & Enforcement

Life changes — jobs, relocations, the children's needs. We help you seek modifications when circumstances genuinely warrant one, and we'll help you enforce existing orders when the other side isn't following them.

Learn more
07

Mediation & Collaborative Law

Most Collin County family cases settle. Mediation and the collaborative-law process let you keep more decisions in your own hands — and usually cost less than a trial.

Learn more
08

Prenuptial & Postnuptial

Agreements drafted to be enforceable under Texas law — with the disclosures, formalities, and independent counsel that keep them from being set aside later.

Learn more
09

Adoption & Protective Orders

Stepparent, family, and agency adoptions — alongside protective orders when safety is the immediate concern. Both require precise filings; both reward careful preparation.

Our Approach

What it's like to work with us.

No mystery and no pressure. Four simple steps from your first call to a resolution — and we'll be alongside you for all of them.

01

Confidential Intake

You contact us by form or phone. We run a conflict check, schedule the consultation, and tell you what to bring.

02

A Friendly First Call

We listen to what's going on, we ask a few focused questions, and we explain how things work in Texas family law — in plain language, with no pressure to sign anything.

03

Strategy & Engagement

If we're a fit, we sign an engagement letter with a clear fee structure. You'll know what we're doing, why, and what it costs.

04

Resolution — Together

Settlement, mediation, or trial — whichever fits your case best. We adjust the approach to what's right for you, and we stay with you all the way through.

Common Questions

A few things people ask before they call.

Don't see your question here? Reach out — we're happy to answer it.

How long does a Texas divorce take?
Texas requires a 60-day waiting period from the date the petition is filed before any divorce can be finalized. Uncontested divorces sometimes finish at or near that mark. Contested cases — especially those involving children, businesses, or significant property — typically take longer, and the more contested the issues, the longer the timeline. We'll give you a realistic estimate during your consultation based on your facts.
How much does a family law case cost?
It depends on the complexity, the level of conflict, and how much of the work resolves outside of court. We'll discuss fees openly during the consultation and provide a written engagement letter before any work begins. Honest answer: no responsible attorney can quote a flat number without first hearing the facts of your case.
Do I have to go to court?
Often, no. The majority of family law cases in Collin County resolve through negotiation, mediation, or collaborative-law processes. That said, we prepare every case as if it's going to trial — because the side that's prepared usually negotiates from the stronger position.
What happens at the first consultation?
We listen. You'll tell us the basics of your situation, we'll ask focused questions, and we'll explain how the Texas Family Code applies to your facts. You'll leave with a clearer picture of your options, a realistic sense of the timeline, and no obligation to engage the firm.
Will my conversation be confidential?
Conversations with an attorney during a consultation are confidential. Information submitted through the website intake form is also handled carefully, but please note that submitting the form does not, by itself, create an attorney–client relationship. Do not include details you'd want held in absolute confidence until we've run a conflict check and you've signed an engagement letter.
Do you handle cases outside of Texas?
No. The attorneys at this firm are licensed in Texas, and we can only represent clients on Texas family law matters. If you have a case in another state, we'll do our best to point you toward a local family lawyer there.
